How will Israel defeat itself? The prophecies of the end as the Israelis say
In a recent press interview, the famous Israeli historian Benny Morris painted a bleak picture of the end of Israel as he saw it, and assumed a horizon for this inevitable end in his opinion.
Although such predictions may not be taken seriously in political circles, Morris' vision is of considerable weight in Israel, after the man spent many years studying the history and minutes of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Benny Morris is one of the most famous faces of the New Historians movement, a term widely used in Israel by a group of historians who have refuted the Israeli narrative of the conflict with the Arabs and have acknowledged what the Zionists have done in terms of murder and displacement.
This does not mean that all the "new historians" feel Israel's responsibility for this historical crime. They start from different perspectives in their study of that history, including Morris, who sees no harm in ethnic cleansing. He believes that the Jews must do everything necessary to protect themselves.
"I do not see a way out," Morris says, referring to Israel's chances of survival as a "Jewish state."
"Today there are more Arabs than Jews between the Mediterranean and Jordan, and this whole land will inevitably become one state with an Arab majority," he explains. "Israel continues to call itself a Jewish state, but our rule of an occupied people without rights is not a situation that can last for the 21st century in the modern world.

How does the Israeli historian see the future in light of these facts, and in the light of his deep belief that there is no real chance to reach a real peace between a Palestinian entity and an Israeli entity?
"The Arabs will demand the return of the refugees and the Jews will remain a small minority in the midst of a large Arab sea of Palestinians, an oppressed or slaughtered minority, as they were when they were living," Morris said. In the Arab countries, and anyone who can Jews will flee to America and the West. "
Thirty or fifty years
"Palestinians look at everything from a long and long-term perspective, and they see that there are five, six or seven million Jews here at this moment, surrounded by hundreds of millions of Arabs," says Morris, "there is no reason for them to surrender because the Jewish state does not Victory can be their ally, in thirty to fifty years they will triumph over us. "
Once Morris' predictions, which were only a small part of a lengthy dialogue on several topics, were published, he was even criticized by Israeli writers and opinion leaders for criticism and accusations.
In this context, it is interesting to note that Israeli predictions of the decay of Israel, its collapse and its defeat from within, emanate from different ideological streams. Among those predictors are Benny Morris, who sees the Israelis as the victims of the nations. Others see them as guilty of writing that "tragic" With their hands.
The second group includes the name of veteran Israeli politician Avraham Burg and the former speaker of the Knesset (Israeli parliament), who has stirred up storms in Israeli public opinion for years over his views and books that warned of the reasons for Israel's demise.
Burg was a star of the Israeli left at one time and held several important positions, including the four-year Knesset presidency, the Jewish Agency for Israel presidency, and the World Zionist Organization.
The mentality of the ghetto
Burg believes that Israel, by renouncing democracy and adhering to the "ghetto" mentality and its waste of human values, is taking the causes of collapse and hastening the end. In 2003, in the midst of the second Palestinian uprising, Burg wrote an article in the Guardian newspaper titled "The End of Zionism" in which he spoke about the serious consequences of Israeli behavior.
"Israel, which is no longer filled with Palestinian children, should not be surprised when the Palestinians come to it with hatred and blow themselves up in Israeli entertainment," Burg said. "They shed their blood in our restaurants to spoil our appetite because they have sons and fathers at home who feel hungry and humiliated."

In 2007, Burg provoked another storm when he published his book "Hitler's Defeat," in which Israel's situation resembles that of Nazi Germany before its defeat. He warns in the book that a growing segment of Israeli society underestimates political democracy and opposes foreigners and says the state is at the mercy of an extremist minority.
"Israel refuses to recognize this, but Israel has been hit by a wall," Burg says, adding that "Israel is a Zionist ghetto that has its own reasons for disappearing," and he explains in one of the press interviews: "People ask if they are sure their children will live here, How many of them will say Yes, 50% at the most, in other words, the Israeli elite have separated from this place, and no nation without an elite. "
Burg is proud to have a French passport he acquired for his marriage to a French-born woman. When asked if he recommends that the Israelis obtain a second passport, he says everyone can do it.
Arab vision
On the Arab and Islamic side, the writings and theories are not limited to the demise of Israel and perceptions of that end and expected dates. But say that there is an equivalent of the effort of the thinker
